Some years ago, it occurred to me to ask "what is the point of making a painting, at all?”. Over time the answers have evolved, though always predicated on creating works of wonder and perhaps beauty. The last ten years or so have been consumed with an almost minimalist concept of women and water, both being elemental to our existence. The representation of the female form had its beginnings in the earliest form of visual art, cave painting. Eventually there was the invention of astarte, and subsequently goddesses of life, harvest, birth and knowledge. The water and ocean as implied in my work is extrapolated from my years of surfing and interpreting the many different aspects of how the ocean moves, whether seemingly calm, in motion, in day light, or night light. Ultimately, the work seen individually, or taken together in toto has its own life, and that is what I share with you.
